A collective of musicians and vocalists led by Hakim Jamal/Paul Ashley Wheatcroft. You’ll notice in the coming days some changes to Hakim Jamal pages to reflect a ‘band’ rather than an ‘artist’ approach as we engage in more collaborative projects.
Look out for the next one, the album ’Northern’, due out shortly, featuring Rory and Fliss Mitchell, Rachel Maxann, with some co-production by DJ TinTin Marc Hough. All future releases will go out under the new name.
THE NAME ORIGINATES FROM A TRACK BY HAKIM JAMAL ON THE 'MUSIC FROM THE MINT HOTEL' ALBUM. ITS ORIGIN IS A FAMOUS ROAD RACE WHOSE STARTING LINE WAS THE LAS VEGAS STRIP. EACH YEAR, JOURNALISTS, WHORES AND GAMBLERS WOULD DESCEND ON THE MINT HOTEL FOR A WEEKEND OF UNFETTERED DEBAUCHERY, CAPTURED IN THE WRITINGS OF HUNTER S. THOMPSON.
